About the role
As Data Analyst, Biopharma Intelligence, you will generate value-added intelligence on key issues for drug developers and their investors. This is primarily a data analysis and data visualization role to support BioCentury’s team of Biopharma Intelligence Analysts and, in some cases, to produce stand-alone data articles.
Working under the direction of a senior analyst, you will analyze data from BioCentury and external sources and present it in formats that clearly communicate key takeaways. Projects range from simple tables and charts to in-depth analyses of complex datasets.
Focus areas include biological targets and pathways, clinical trial design and outcomes, regulatory trends, private and public financing, business development, and biopharma policy.
Your work will support BioCentury’s mission to inform strategic decision-making in biomedical innovation through data-driven analysis, storytelling, and contextual insight.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze trends in R&D, finance, dealmaking, regulation and policy across the global biopharma industry
Create datasets and visualizations for BioCentury’s publications, presentations, and other platforms
Write accompanying narrative content to explain and contextualize findings in charts and tables
Contribute data analyses to long-form projects spearheaded by other research team members.
Proactively identify new areas of analysis and propose content ideas tailored to BioCentury’s expert audience
Ensure all content meets accuracy, context, and style standards
Collaborate across departments to support editorial, conference and database initiatives
Explore new data sources and tools to improve BioCentury’s content workflows and outputs

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, public health, economics, or related field
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Proficiency in Excel or similar data tools; ability to learn new platforms and tools quickly
Excellent written communication skills, particularly in explaining scientific or financial concepts to knowledgeable audiences
Basic knowledge of the biopharma industry, including familiarity with clinical trials, drug development stages and regulatory agencies
Preferred Experience (not required)
Advanced degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, public health, economics, or related field
Familiarity with drug development, licensing, and equity transactions
SQL or Python for data extraction or cleaning
Power BI or similar tools for building dashboards or reports
Experience with entity extraction or natural language processing tools

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $68,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
