Please review this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information. By using our website and our Services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.

Updates to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy based upon evolving laws, regulations and industry standards, or as we make changes to how we process your personal information. We will indicate when this Privacy policy was last updated at the top of this document.

Third Party Links

Our services may contain hyperlinks to other unaffiliated services that may have information policies and practices different from ours. We have no control over those third-party services, are not responsible for their privacy policies, practices, or content, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them.

From time to time BioCentury may publish notices about events conducted by third parties. In addition, third-party advertisers may engage BioCentury to offer the advertisers’ products and services to our customers and prospective customers. We cannot make any representations about the practices, policies, publications or services of these advertisers or other third parties, and your use of such parties’ offers is your own responsibility and are not covered by this Privacy Policy.

Account Information. When you purchase a BioCentury product or service, or purchase any other products or services from our partners, you may need to give personal information necessary to establish your account and for us to provide the product or service, and to authorize us to obtain information from various credit services in order to collect your payment.

  • Name
  • Title

We do not retain credit card information beyond the time needed to complete the transaction for which you have given it to us. Note: Some of the credit services we use to collect payments on our behalf have their own privacy policies, which may allow them to use your personal information to send their marketing communications to you. How We Use Your Personal Information

Broadly speaking, we use personal information for purposes of administering our business activities, providing customer service and making our products and services available to our customers and prospective customers. Our uses of personal information may include the following:

  • To comply with the law.
  • As you may otherwise approve when you provide your consent at the time of collection.

What Information Do We Disclose to Outside Parties?

BioCentury shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of BioCentury only in the following limited circumstances:

  • We have your consent for a specific purpose, such as to establish an account using a credit card. As described in “Information You Provide to Us” (above), some of the credit services we use to collect payments on our behalf have their own privacy policies which may allow them to use your personal information to send their marketing communications to you. If this applies to a credit card transaction, you will be so informed before you complete the transaction. If you do not wish to accept the credit service’s privacy policy, contact support@biocentury.com to complete your transaction and pay for the Product or Service you have ordered without using our outside credit service.
  • You have given us your information to register for an event where we are an organizer in conjunction with a third-party event manager, in which case your personal information will be processed under a contract that contains provisions no less protective than those of this Privacy Policy.
  • You have given us your information to request content or register to participate in an event we offer through or along with a partner or third party. Such third parties may have their own privacy policies, which may allow them to use your personal information to send their marketing communications to you. If this applies, you will be so informed before you complete the request/registration and be given the opportunity to terminate the transaction, in which case you will not be able to receive any of the related content or register for the event. In some cases, you may need to submit your personal information directly to our partner, in which case your privacy will be governed by the partner’s privacy policy, see “Your Disclosures to Third Parties” (below).
  • We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf, in which case your personal information will be processed under a contract that contains provisions no less protective than those of this Privacy Policy.
  • We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce the terms or conditions of the BioCentury User Agreement or other applicable BioCentury license agreement, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of BioCentury, its customers or the public as required or permitted by applicable law.

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except as described in this Privacy Policy. We may share your personal information with our corporate parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates, for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.

We may sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of our business or assets, including your personal information, in connection with a business transaction (or potential business transaction) such as a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, or in the event of bankruptcy or dissolution.

Your Disclosures to Third Parties

We may enter into strategic alliances or partnerships with third parties (“Strategic Partners”) for the purposes of jointly providing additional products or services. If you wish to obtain or use these products or services, you may be asked to provide personal information directly to our Strategic Partners to deliver the product and/or service. These parties may have their own privacy policies, which will govern their use of your personal information. Before proceeding, please read those privacy policies, including provisions, if any, allowing them to use your personal information to send their marketing communications to you. We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our own website, or the information or content contained therein.

Corporate and Third-Party Subscriptions and Marketing Data

If your access to BioCentury’s products or services is provided by your employer or another third party, your employer or that third party may provide us with limited amounts of personal information about you to enable your access to BioCentury’s products and services. In addition, your employer or the third party may require us to provide them with information about your access to the products or services, for example, to verify that you are using the products and services they have purchased on your behalf. In addition, we may be required to provide your employer or third party with personal information in order to enforce compliance with the BioCentury User Agreement or other applicable BioCentury license agreement.

From time to time, we may obtain names from third parties that may contain individuals’ personal information. Our use of such personal information is subject to the policies detailed in this Privacy Policy.

Privacy Technology Practices

We will notify you if your personal information will be shared with a third party whenever you register to attend or view our content. Please note that in these cases, you will not be able to access such content or register to participate in an event unless you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Please note, if you have consented to the privacy policy of a BioCentury vendor or partner who has the right to market to you, BioCentury cannot opt you out of marketing on behalf of that other vendor or partner.
