CRC - BC Connector for ChatGPT Getting Started 

To use the BioCentury Connector with ChatGPT, you'll need: 

- **An active BioCentury subscription** that includes connector access. Not sure if your plan qualifies? Contact [support@biocentury.com](mailto:support@biocentury.com).
- **A ChatGPT account** for either **Individual users** (ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go) or for **Organizations** (ChatGPT Business or Enterprise)
- **Your BioCentury login credentials** (email and password) for authorization. If your BioCentury account uses Single Sign-On (SSO), simply enter your email address during sign-in.

### How to install the BioCentury Connector for ChatGPT as an individual user

Follow the steps below to connect the BioCentury Connector using ChatGPT’s custom connector setup. 

***You can only set up the initial connection in the web browser.*** Once connected, you can access the connector through multiple platforms, including ChatGPT desktop and the ChatGPT app.
 

You will need the **BioCentury MCP connector URL**, which is provided by BioCentury. Contact [support@biocentury.com](mailto:support@biocentury.com) if you have not received it. 

Individual ChatGPT subscribers can add BioCentury directly from the ChatGPT Plugins library. 

**1. Open Settings** 
Log into ChatGPT in your web browser. 
Click your profile icon and select Settings.

**2. Activate Developer mode** 
Open the **Security and login** menu. 
Scroll down and click the **Developer mode** toggle.

**3. Create BioCentury Connector plugin** 
Click Plugins from the Settings menu. 
Click Browse plugins.

Click the **Plus Icon (+)** next to **Search plugins**

Enter a **Name** for the tool (BioCentury Connector) 
Enter the BioCentury Connector MCP URL under **Connections** (provided by your customer success manager) 
Click **Create**

**4. Authorize Your BioCentury Account** 
When prompted: 
- Sign in with your BioCentury credentials 
- Accept the BioCentury AI Terms of Use 
- Click **Allow Access**

**Note:** Your credentials are used only to verify your active subscription. All data transfers are encrypted.

**5. Confirm the connection** 
The BioCentury Connector now appears in your Installed Plugins list and is ready to use.

### How to install the BioCentury Connector for Claude as an organization user

Organizations using ChatGPT **Business** or **Enterprise** plans may have the BioCentury Connector installed centrally by an administrator. 

Note: Your ChatGPT administrator must enable connectors before individual users can connect to BioCentury. 

If the connector has already been made available to your organization, follow these instructions: 

**1. Open Settings** 
Log into ChatGPT in your web browser. 
Click your profile icon and select Settings.

**2. Connect BioCentury Connector** 
Click **Plugins** 
Click **Browse plugins**

Search for BioCentury Connector in the Search plugins bar. 
Click **Connect** (+ icon)

**3. Authorize Your BioCentury Account** 
When prompted: 
- Sign in with your BioCentury credentials

Organization Users

Once connected: 

**1. Start a New Chat** 
Open a new ChatGPT conversation. 

**2. Enable the BioCentury Connector** 
Click **Add files and more** (+ icon next to the search bar). 
Select **BioCentury Connector**.

**3. Provide ChatGPT with guidance on using the BioCentury Connector.** 

While you can’t configure the ChatGPT to use the BioCentury Connector every time you ask a question, you can teach it a persistent preference to use it for specific topics and questions. 

The best setup is to add this to **Settings → Personalization → Custom Instructions**: 

`For every question related to biopharma, biotech companies, therapeutics, deals, and BioCentury, search the BioCentury Connector first. Base the answer on BioCentury results and cite them. If the Connector does not contain the answer, clearly say so before using other sources or general knowledge.`

You can also tell ChatGPT directly: 

`Remember to use the BioCentury Connector first for all biopharma, deal, company, product, and BioCentury questions.` 

**4. Ask questions using BioCentury Content** 

Examples: 

- Using BioCentury analysis, summarize recent ADC licensing activity.
- Based on BioCentury coverage, compare the leading TIGIT programs. 

You can also combine BioCentury with other connected tools: 

- Using BioCentury and PubMed, summarize the latest KRAS G12D therapeutic developments.

**5. Continue the conversation** 
Follow-up questions continue using the BioCentury Connector unless you change the selected tools.

Using the Connector

To manage the BioCentury Connector: 
1.	Open **Settings → Plugins** 
2.	View your installed and connected plugins 
3.	Disconnect or reconnect BioCentury Connector as needed 
4.	Review granted permissions 

**Key things to note:** 
- You can have multiple connectors active in the same conversation — just toggle on each one you want at the start of the chat. 
- You control which one ChatGPT uses by how you phrase your prompt — mention the source explicitly, e.g. “using BioCentury analysis” 
- You can combine them in a single workflow — e.g. ask BioCentury for competitive landscape context, then follow up asking for active trials on the same target from ClinicalTrials.gov, all in one conversation.

Managing Your Connector

**I don't see Plugins.** 
Verify your ChatGPT plan supports plugins. 
If you're using ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, contact your organization administrator to confirm plugins have been enabled. 

**BioCentury doesn't appear in plugin search.** 
Ensure your ChatGPT account supports plugins and that BioCentury has been made available for your account or organization. 
Check that Developer mode is activated to enter the BioCentury Connector MCP URL. 
Enter the MCP URL exactly as BioCentury provided; a missing character or extra space will prevent the connection. Contact [support@biocentury.com](mailto:support@biocentury.com) if the URL needs to be re-issued. 

**Authorization fails.** 
Confirm you're using the credentials for your active BioCentury subscription. Reset your password at [login.biocentury.com/forgotpassword](https://login-biocentury-com.proxy.lib.umich.edu/forgotpassword) if needed. 

**ChatGPT isn't using BioCentury information.** 
Make sure BioCentury Connector is selected as an active plugin for the conversation.
Prompt ChatGPT explicitly, for example: 
`Using BioCentury analysis...` 
or 
`Based on BioCentury Content...` 

**The connector was working but stopped.** 
Disconnect and reconnect the BioCentury Connector from Plugins.
